As I type, we wait. We have waited for a very long time. So long that we have forgotten about all the things we have to do to prepare for our daughter's arrival. So now we are scrambling to get "ready." As I type, Valerie paints. Val is painting our little daughter-to-be's room. The color is love bird, which is a very pale, subtle pink. Neither Val and I are real big on pink, but its very sweet- and we couldn't help ourselves. This room that will soon be our daughters has been an empty space across the hall from our room, where we do our morning ironing. Now, after 11 months of being our ironing-room, it is transforming into a little girls room, with a crib, a changing table, a closet full of hand-me-down clothes and a whole lot of love.........bird.

6106 miles
The distance from Salt Lake City, USA to Beijing, China is 6106 miles. That's a long way to go to find love... but Valerie and I are not deterred. Soon we will board a plane and fly to the other side of this planet to meet our daughter. We will arrive, see some sights and then a government official from The Peoples Republic of China will hand over a small female child to us and we will take her and cry and cry with joy and then she will fly all the way back to Utah, to live with us in our house. It all sounds very, very, very surreal.
